Copy trading bot fees: how to calculate the real cost
In brief
Calculate fees on both buys and sells, separate gas and slippage, and see how Maya’s holder benefit changes the service-fee line.
Start with the value of each executed leg
A quoted percentage may apply whenever you buy and whenever you sell. Check the basis instead of treating it as a one-time charge on your deposit. More frequent trading creates more executed legs, even if your starting balance stays the same.
Maya’s standard service fee is 2% on each executed copied buy or sell. Paper trades and skips do not create payable live fees. The current minimum copied buy is $10.
A round-trip example
Suppose a $100 buy is followed by a sale of $120. At 2%, the Maya service fees are $2 and $2.40, or $4.40 across those two executions. That example says nothing about gas, venue charges or how much of the apparent price gain you could actually realize.
If instead you sell only part of the position, calculate the fee on the executed sale value. The unsold tokens remain exposed. A partial exit is not a completed round trip for the original position.
Four different cost lines to understand
Service fees pay for the copy service. Native gas pays the blockchain. Venue charges belong to the swap or trading route. Slippage is the difference between an expected execution and the one obtained; price impact is the effect of trade size on the available liquidity.
Those items can change independently. A 0% service-fee promotion does not remove network fees or make a thin market liquid. A higher displayed token price also does not guarantee a route that can sell your entire position at that level.
What changes for a qualifying MAYA holder
Holding at least 10,000,000 MAYA in the Maya dashboard wallet on Base qualifies a verified account for 0% Maya service fees across supported copy chains. External wallets, staking and liquidity positions are excluded. The standard rate applies when verification is unavailable.
In the $100-buy / $120-sale example, a qualifying zero-fee execution removes the corresponding Maya service-fee line. Other costs still apply. The holding benefit does not provide cash or native gas on another chain.
Rewards come from collected fees, not your deposit
Eligible standard copy fees allocate 50% to the protocol, 25% to the copied creator and 25% to an eligible direct referrer. Unassigned shares stay with the protocol. Zero-fee trades create no new fee-funded reward credits.
Creator credits are intended for purchased MAYA on Base and direct referrals for USDC on Base. Automated delivery remains inactive. The separate Virtuals creator-revenue stream has its own 50% protocol / 50% buyback-and-burn allocation and must not be added to the copy-fee split.
Compare a month of activity, not only the rate
Count the buy and sell value you actually execute, then add the other recorded costs. A fast trader and a slower trader can have very different monthly turnover from the same starting cash balance.
Keep your own receipts and Sales / Closed records when comparing tools. A leader’s profit screenshot is not your after-cost result, and a single low-fee execution does not establish the cost of following every later signal.
